When Customers Get in Touch

These are the situations that bring most of our customers to us.

Testing Due — or Overdue

Your EICR, PAT testing or emergency lighting checks are coming up, or your insurer or landlord has asked for up-to-date certificates. We carry out the testing, issue full reports and quote for any remedial work.

Planning EV Charging

You want chargers for staff, fleet or visitors but aren't sure how many you need, whether your supply can cope, or which grants apply. We survey the site and handle the installation from start to finish.

Lighting Costing Too Much

Old fluorescent fittings are expensive to run, and replacement tubes are getting harder to find. We upgrade to LED, from a single fitting to a full site.

Refurbishment or New Equipment

You're moving office, refitting a space or adding equipment that needs new circuits, data points or power. We plan and install the electrics and cabling together.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

An EICR checks the electrics built into your building: the wiring, fuse boards, sockets and light switches. PAT testing checks the equipment you plug in, like computers, kettles and extension leads. They cover different things, so most workplaces need both, usually on different schedules. DMS can arrange both together.

If your EICR fails, the report lists the faults that need fixing, marked C1, C2 or FI. A qualified electrician must put them right and give you a certificate confirming the work. It won’t always mean major work; sometimes it’s a handful of fixes. DMS quotes for any work in writing before starting.

There’s no fixed legal rule. HSE guidance says it depends on the type of equipment and how it’s used. Equipment that gets moved around or used heavily, such as extension leads and power tools, needs checking more often than a desktop computer that stays put. DMS can recommend a sensible schedule for your workplace.

CCTV that records people is covered by data protection law. You need a clear reason for using it, should avoid private areas such as toilets, and should put up signs so people know they’re being filmed. If you’re not already registered with the ICO, you’ll need to register and pay the data protection fee. Tell staff before cameras go live.

For most businesses, yes. LED lighting uses much less electricity than fluorescent tubes and lasts far longer, so running and maintenance costs fall. Most fluorescent tubes can no longer be sold in Great Britain, so replacements are getting harder to find. DMS can assess your current lighting and quote for an LED upgrade.

It depends on how many staff, fleet vehicles and visitors will charge, and for how long. Cars parked all day can often share a smaller number of standard chargers, while quick turnarounds may need faster units. It’s worth planning spare capacity for future demand. DMS can survey your site and recommend the right number and type.

Usually, yes. Wi-Fi relies on cabling to connect its access points, and wired connections are generally more reliable for desks, phones, printers and CCTV. Most offices use both: cabling for fixed equipment and Wi-Fi for laptops and mobile devices. DMS installs data cabling and network points alongside its IT services.
